Placement groups

Virtual servers are processes running on physical hosts that are part of e24cloud infrastructure. When running more instances, the scheduling algorithm tries to spread them on all physical hosts to minimize potential downtime in case of hardware failure. To allow for better control of virtual server placements, user can use placement groups to specify which instances must not share underlying host.

A single placement group consists of maximum 6 instances and guarantees that all servers within the placement group are running on separate virtual hosts.

Placement Groups are "hard" constraint. If - for whatever reason - it would not be possible to start virtual server within group's constraints, the start operation will end up in failure.
